Sukarma concert

Dear friends of Yoga Shankara,

I am very happy to inform you about a future trip in Europe of the Nepalese music group Sukarma which includes various concerts in Italy between 27th May and 9th June 2016.

I couldn't but seize this opportunity to invite the three musicians to Milan and they will be my guests in Peschiera Borromeo from the 6th to the 10th June.

We are programming a series of events, as follows:
  • at the Yoga Shankara centre in San Felice (Segrate): a lecture on the relationship between sound, music and meditation;  theme very dear to the Master of sitar Dr. Dhrubesh Chandra Regmi, who founded the group Sukarma and is a professor in various academies and universities
  • musical evening with a garden aperitive, also at San Felice, Segrate
  • a further musical meeting is foreseen at the headoffice of the storical environmental association Gaia (www.gaiaitalia.it) in Corso Garibaldi 11/via Rivoli 4, which is in the heart of the old Milan.
Like all the events promoted by Yoga Shankara, a free offer from participants would be appreciated (to cover the organization expenses and to sustain our humanitarian projects in Nepal). Confirmation of participation is required at the contact given at the bottom.

Hoping that this proposal will be widely acknowledged, you are all invited to participate! Meeting such talented artists whose musical tradition is inbuilt as handed down with pureness,  mastery and passion by many generations is a rare occasion.

Anchored to past traditions, the Sukarma group have developed over time a unique lively style, fusion between classical and folk music, contaminated by modern, original and refined tones that don't change but enlighten the intensity, fragrance and beauty of cultural traditional music.Very popular in Nepal and India, appreciated and well known all over Europe, each year they are invited for a tour with various stops mainly in France, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland in addition to Japan and the USA. Naturally they often cooperate with Western musicians.

If you wish to listen to some tracks and find further information, I suggest you visit their web site: www.sukarmamusic.com.np.  You will mainly find beautiful folkloristic presentations compared to the more interesting (in my opinion) cultural music (with the typical entrancing classical Indian ragas and tracks played for a long time, as required by tradition) that is proposed in different locations - musical academies universities, yoga schools, monasteries, etc.

I met the musicians of the Sukarma group in Kathmandu in 2009, during a humanitarian trip where I participated as a volunteer - sustaining a project promoted by the organizations Clown One Italia and Apeiron, with whom I collaborate since many years. I had the opportunity of further meeting these very talented musicians and thus appreciate even more their music. In Nepal it is a long time that the musicians of the Sukarma group are engaged in social projects for the recovery of street children that sadly populate the city. In 2006 a film was produced - IRIK Imagine Rainbow in Kathmandu - that documents this extraordinary work.

Hoping to be able to confirm the dates and timings of the given events soon, I am happily available to furnish further information regarding other concerts foreseen in Italy. If you are interested in collaborating by foreseeing a further event at your center, association etc, please don't hesitate to contact me.

See you soon, namaste shubhamastu
Patricia
